On my husband's 51st birthday, I gave him a surprise birthday present. I booked a flight ticket for 3D 2N vacation trip to a place we had wanted to go for a long time, Lake Toba Medan Indonesia.
I always wanted to go to some nice place, only both us of. For the past 20 years, we had always been on vacations with 3 kids trailing along as we always felt guilty leaving them behind. I always felt uneasy and guilty to leave them , while both of us enjoyed ourselves. My happiness is with my husband and children, without them, I felt alone. So, we never went on holiday alone, without kids.
I have chosen the location as I a always feel the place is peaceful and the climate is cool. We left our 3 grown up children home as they are now old enough to mend themselves for 3 days. They were receptive and wished us to enjoy the journey.After taking the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Medan, we took a 4 hours journey to the lake, which located on the top of volcanic mountain. The journey was spectacular and we really enjoyed the scenery.
We spent the night at the hotel facing the lake. It was so romantic and peaceful. I just feel like not leaving the place. However, we have the tour schedule to follow. We had to wake up early in the morning to start out tour the the island, Samosir Island.
The boat cruise to Samosir Island was nice, as the weather was cool and breezy. We chose the seat at the upper deck, so as we could enjoy the scenery.
On the island, we visited Batak Toba settlement village, and did some shopping for souvenirs items.
On the way down from the mountain, we followed another route to Medan Town and it took another 4 hours bus ride. The journey down was as spectacular as the journey up, with many interesting and nice places along the way. We stopped at few nice places to take photo and did some shopping.
We spent the last night at the hotel in Medan and boarded back to Kuala Lumpur the next morning.
